Configuring DueDil

DueDil is a data provider you can use to run these checks:

  • Charities registry check
  • Company ownership check
  • Company registry check

Charities registry check

How it works

This is the default behaviour for a variant of the Charities registry check with DueDil as the data provider.

The check is performed by searching the charity’s country of incorporation and registration number in the registry DueDil is using for the jurisdiction in which the charity was incorporated.

The check passes when the charity is found and at least one trustee is discovered.

When the check passes, the check results are displayed as follows:

  • On the Identify trustees task, the names of the trustees are displayed in the check results, along with any available information about their roles, dates they were appointed, and dates they resigned.
  • On the Verify charity details task, basic information about the charity is displayed in the check results (e.g. charity commission number, registration date, company number, areas of activity, and total expenditure).

If the charity cannot be found, the check fails.

If the charity’s country of incorporation isn’t covered by DueDil, an error is displayed.

Configuration options

There are no additional configuration options for the Charities registry check variant with DueDil.

However, this check is used on the Identify trustees task, which includes configuration options to control how the trustees returned by DueDil are verified. Learn more about task configuration options.

What we’ll need

Let us know that you’d like to add a Charities registry check variant with DueDil and we’ll set it up.

If you’d like to use any of the configuration options for the Identify trustees task, please let us know which ones you’d like to use.

If you have a direct agreement, we’ll need your DueDil auth token and we’ll also need to know whether you have access to DueDil’s international data or DueDil’s UK data only. For help getting this information, please speak to your DueDil account manager.

Testing your configuration

Once the check variant is configured, follow these steps in your demo environment to test whether it's working as expected.

To test the Identify trustees task:

  • Are company trustee results returned from DueDil? Create any company profile for a charity and run the check variant. If the check passes and data for trustees is returned in the check results, the check is working as expected.

To test the Verify charity details task:

  • Is basic information about the charity returned from DueDil? Create any company profile for a charity and run the check variant. If the check passes and data about the charity is returned in the check results, the check is working as expected.
In the live environment, an error is displayed when the check is run on a profile with a country of address that isn’t covered by DueDil. This error is not displayed in the demo environment.

Company ownership check

How it works

This is the default behaviour for a variant of the Company ownership check with DueDil as the data provider.

The check is performed by searching the company’s country of incorporation and registration number in DueDil’s sources to find the company’s shareholders and persons of significant control.

If the company is found and at least one shareholder is discovered, the check passes and the details of the shareholders and persons of significant control are imported into the check results.

If the company is found but no shareholders or persons of significant control can be discovered, the check returns a Partial match.

If the company cannot be found, the check fails.

If the company’s country of incorporation isn’t covered by DueDil, an error is displayed.

Company registry check

How it works

This is the default behaviour for a variant of the Company registry check with DueDil as the data provider.

The check is performed by searching the company’s country of incorporation, registration number, and, if available, Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) in the registry that DueDil is using for the jurisdiction in which the company was incorporated.

It’s only possible to add an LEI to a company profile via the API.

The check passes when all of the following are true:

  1. The company name is found in the registry.
  2. The company status in the registry is active.
  3. The company number, country of incorporation, and, if available, the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) from the company’s profile match the data found in the registry.

When the check passes, the basic company information (e.g. name, company number, incorporation date) as well as a list of all the company officers found in the registry is displayed in the check results.

If the company name is found, but any of the other data is missing or does not match, the check returns a Partial match.

If the company name cannot be found, the check fails.

If the company’s country of incorporation isn’t covered by DueDil, an error is displayed.
